A Lineman's Dilemma: Sacrificing Convenience for Compassion
Natesh, affectionately known as Nata (Triguna), assumes the role of a lineman in Chandakavadi, a quaint village, following the untimely demise of his father. Charged with the responsibility of providing electricity to the entire village, Nata perceives the villagers as an extension of his own family, each with their unique quirks and idiosyncrasies.
The Revered Midwife and the Sparrow's Nest
Within the village, Sharadamma (portrayed by B Jayashree), a revered midwife, commands unanimous respect for her role in safely delivering countless babies. As the village unites to celebrate her remarkable 100th birthday, Nata finds himself at odds with his duty. Refusing to supply electricity due to a sparrow nest nestled beneath the transformer box, containing four fragile eggs, he grapples with the moral dilemma of prioritizing the lives of a few birds over the convenience of the entire village.
A Tale of Compassion and Connection
The film, rooted in the dwindling presence of sparrows in urban environments like Bengaluru, endeavors to weave a poignant narrative. Director V Raghu Shastry skillfully intertwines themes of human dependence on technology and the erosion of genuine human connections, juxtaposed against the backdrop of rural simplicity.
Performances and Realism
Debutant Triguna's portrayal of Nata resonates with authenticity, promising a burgeoning talent. B Jayashree's portrayal of Sharadamma infuses the narrative with depth and sincerity. The ensemble cast, including Sujay Shastri and Harini, contributes to the film's immersive portrayal of village life.
Cinematic Flaws and Didactic Undertones
While the film excels in capturing the essence of village life, it falters in terms of cinematography and editing. Furthermore, its exploration of multiple themes may render it overly didactic for mainstream audiences. However, for those seeking a glimpse into a simpler existence devoid of modern conveniences, the film offers a captivating cinematic experience, albeit with its flaws.
