In "Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay," a young couple opts for marriage to escape familial pressures. The girl, harboring dreams of becoming an IAS officer, receives unwavering support from her husband. However, a misunderstanding arises, leading their families to mistakenly believe she is pregnant, sparking confusion.

"Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay" centers around three main characters: Ira Mishra (Saiee Manjrekar), an ambitious aspiring IAS officer; Heer Chawla (Guru Randhawa), a carefree individual; and Brij Bhushan Chawla (Anupam Kher), Heer's grandfather with dreams of becoming a great-grandfather. Pressured by family expectations, the young couple concocts a plan to fake a pregnancy, allowing Ira to focus on her studies. However, a series of events unfolds, including a fake miscarriage and subsequent infertility, testing the couple and their families.
Director G Ashok's comedy-drama employs familiar tropes, set within a large haveli filled with eccentric family members and exaggerated situations. Penned by Raj Saluja, Niket Pandey, Vijay Pal Singh, and Shobhit Sinha, the narrative relies heavily on slapstick humor, incorporating puns and witty one-liners. Some scenes, featuring suggestive humor, border on the absurd, detracting from the overall comedic effect. Additionally, certain plot developments feel contrived and overly convenient, diminishing the story's believability.
Set against the backdrop of Agra, cinematographers Jayesh Sen and R M Swamy capture the city's beauty, showcasing iconic landmarks such as Fatehpur Sikri and the Taj Mahal. The film boasts a diverse soundtrack, featuring tracks by Guru Randhawa, Sachet-Parampara, Meet Bros, Nilesh Ahuja, and Sadhu Sushil Tiwari, adding depth to the narrative with both upbeat and romantic melodies.
While Saiee Manjrekar delivers a commendable performance, Guru Randhawa shines as the affable Heer. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable, although Randhawa's acting prowess is more apparent in comedic moments than in emotional scenes. Anupam Kher and Ila Arun excel in their roles, portraying vibrant and endearing characters. Paritosh Tripathi impresses as a witty adopted son, contributing to the film's comedic elements.
"Kuchh Khatta Ho Jaay" offers plenty of laughs and amusing one-liners throughout its 125-minute runtime. However, the central plot and exaggerated events leave room for improvement, preventing the film from reaching its full potential.
