One of the highlights of Blue Star is its multifaceted narrative, which goes beyond the mere outcome of cricket matches. This aspect may not appeal to viewers seeking a single-minded focus in storytelling. Director S Jayakumar explores various subplots, including protagonist Ranjith’s love life, his brother's romantic journey, and the mentor figure's tragic backstory, portrayed poignantly by Bagavathi Perumal.
Despite its straightforward approach, Blue Star falls short of oversimplifying its themes. While the film effectively communicates its message, it occasionally struggles with excessive dialogue, which detracts from the emotional impact.
